He was in a commited relationship with her, and there were strange happenings in their house. Things would turn up missing or misplaced overnight. He would sometimes hear footsteps retreating as he woke, with a feminine giggle, and the softeness of a sprite, taunting him to figure it out. Eventually she became angry because she would assume he has cordial guests in the night, no matter his protests. As a claim to vindicate himself and prove he was not, he insisted they uproot their lives and move. Oh how angry she was, cursing him and in a state of absolute disbelief he would want to do this after they finally got their lives together. Ultimately he convinced her be re-stating what she constantly accused him of, that they would be away from these supposed guests he has. Finally finding a niche far away from everyone they knew, they begin to unpack, tired and road-worn. The very first night in their new house, still piled high with boxes, she was even more infuriated with him because he would not sleep. He knew this trickster would come again. The hair on his nape raised, and he sensed it's presence. As he lies on the bed with knife in hand fighting his own deprivation of rest, he sure enough hears the door slide open downstairs. Instantly his vigor and focus returns and his grip on the knife becomes that of iron. He slithers out of bed and quickly hides himself and his presence among the shadows, as if he had been taught to do so since birth. The trickster eases its way up the stairs, as he feels it's presence and it's lack of knowledge he is waiting for it. As quickly as it turns toward the bed, it feels the biting edge of his blade at it's throat. He names it's game as a fools end, his words echoing with venom. He wakes up suddenlty, roused by the insanity of the dream and his own actions, quickly aware of strange lingering energies in the room. His dog was across the room laying on the floor, almost afraid of him it seemed. He has never in his years knew his dog to be unnerved this badly. Fearing that these strange energies have affected his best friend, he quickly took action. "Name yourself and make your presence known spectre, lest you and your masters suffer me and my own!" he bellowed, for he was sure this creature would not dare act alone against him. Dancing shadows and fleeting movements in the enveloping blackness before him, and the presence is no more. As he calls his ever faithful companion back to his side, it does so eagerly it seems, almost grateful. Shaken and left with many questions, he contacts a good friend who may know a thing or tow about this strange encounter.
